JUSTIFICATION FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ
I am continually amazed that I keep hearing the term “unjustified war against Iraq”. I hear liberal journalists constantly saying President Bush misled us into war since we haven’t found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Where to begin?
Almost immediately after DESERT STORM Saddam’s Iraq began violating the treaty that ended that war. No-fly Zones were set up in Iraq to protect the Kurds in the North and the Saudis/Kuwaitis in the South from attack. If you look back at newspapers from 1992 and 1993 you will see many, many short articles on Iraqi air defense forces firing on Coalition aircraft patrolling the No-fly zones. This continued for years and never really stopped until we invaded Iraq last year. The media stopped covering these attacks around 1993-94 timeframe when they realized they were happening almost every day.
In the years since Saddam kicked out UNSCOM weapon inspectors and violated over a dozen United Nations resolutions. Since the invasion we’ve discovered mass graves where thousands of Shiites were killed. We’ve discovered terrorist training camps including one containing an airliner fuselage to practice high-jacking techniques. When the Taliban was overthrown in Afghanistan several key Al Qaeda operatives fled to Baghdad. In his prisons and palaces we’ve discovered torture chambers, rape rooms, etc. This guys was evil and he should have been invaded and overthrown in 1993, not 2003.
I’ve heard many say…so what? He was evil. There are lots of bad guys out there. Are we going to invade them all? What about Iran? What about North Korea? What about the slaughter in Ruwanda (under the watchful eyes of UN peace-keepers, I might add)? Here is my answer. Take it for what it is worth...simply my opinion.
We’ve just entered the 21st Century. In this world about half of the 6 billion people on this planet live under some form of tyranny. Indeed, throughout history most people have lived under the rule of kings, dictators, warlords, emperors, ayatollahs, etc. Democracy seems to be more the exception than the rule. The “Miracle in Philadelphia” looks more and more to me like a miracle. European democracies are making that slow, methodical, slog back toward Socialism and the Muslim world is uniting under the flag of Islamic fanaticism and waging a war of terror in the name of their god. In this day of nuclear technology, biogenetic engineering, global travel, free trade and the Internet, I firmly believe the human race will not enter the 22nd Century with the world split between freedom and tyranny. Today individuals or small groups can possess the destructive power that entire armies had a hundred years ago. The war between freedom and tyranny is coming. The war between Good and Evil has never ended, even though Good has sued for peace. Evil is like rust. It attacks constantly. It invades, it weakens, it destroys. It never tires and it never stops. The same cannot be said of Good. Good takes time off. Good looks for a reason to fight. Good looks for compromise with Evil and only fights when all else has failed. Good only fights when its eyes are finally opened to Evil and the beast can be clearly seen. In the past Good was never too late to stop Evil. With the weapons of today and the weapons to come in the 21st Century, Good may not get the chance. There may not be time and we may all die with our eyes closed.
I know that seems pretty simple: Good versus Evil. Simple concept, but a lesson we continually forget. Was Saddam evil? What his regime evil? If as a free, democratic, society we cannot answer this…then we deserve what we get.

VIRULENT WINDS
The Middle East is uniting under Islamic Jihad and former enemies, Sandor and Kumar, are waging a war of terrorism against both Russia and America. Trying to convert their military might into hard cash, Russia secretly offers a dozen advanced MiG-41s to the United States along with a plan that is both daring and dangerous, but could forever alter the balance of power in the Middle East.
Hoping to destroy the unity between Kumar and Sandor, Russian Security Advisor Victor Komiskov and his American counterpart NSA Director Charles Michaels assembles a covert strike team of hotshot US and Russian pilots under the command of renegade General George “Maddog” Tanner.
Flying the advanced MiG-41 under the cover of night they cut their teeth on a mission to assassinate a high level Kumari terrorist then turn their attention to a Sandori nuclear facility soon to begin breeding plutonium for its nuclear weapons program. Soon Kumar and Sandor are on the edge of war as each thinks the other responsible for the attacks.
With Islamic unity broken and the region gearing up for war, the Russians have one last surprise, a stolen SS-20 nuclear warhead in Sandori hands. The team must fly one last mission to destroy this warhead before it can be moved, but a lone US intelligence officer accidentally discovers the awful truth and the Russians’ terrible secret.
