WHEN PENGUINS FLEW
AND WATER BURNED

This is the true memoir of one US Air Force navigator’s journey from the schoolhouses of Air Training Command to the nuclear alerts of the Cold War to combat in a 35-year-old anachronism called the B-52. It is a first-hand account of life during the last days of Strategic Air Command, the early days of Air Combat Command and the ensuing military drawdown of the 1990s. From peacetime training exercises across the globe to combat operations in Desert Storm, Jim Clonts takes the reader inside the cockpit where life and death are seconds apart. Often comical, sometimes heart-pounding, other times tragic, WHEN PENGUINS FLEW AND WATER BURNED takes you into the world of military aviation, a crucible where warriors learn the true nature of character, conscience and mortality.

[Jim Clonts / JimClonts.Com] The Future of Your Healthcare

Here is how President Obama and the Democrats are going to change healthcare:

Congress will pass a new entitlement program, a public option for health insurance, based on the Medicare model. In theory this would cover 50 million Americans (and illegal immigrants) who do not have insurance now.

How will they pay for this new program:

1. Remove tax credits employers get for providing healthcare to employees (increase corporate taxes)

2. Tax employee health benefits as imputed income (increase your taxes)

3. More deficit spending (selling debt to the Chinese, Russians and others)

4. Print dollars

The Administration says the idea behind the Public Plan is to promote competition, but private sector insurance companies cannot compete with a competitor that can deficit spend and print its own money. Companies, facing loss of tax deductions and increased corporate taxes, will cancel their healthcare plans, putting their employees on the Public Plan. Private insurance companies will fold. Many will support the Government in hopes of contracting for an administrative role in the Public Plan.

To be fair, the Public Plan will cost less. Just like Medicare today, they simply won't reimburse doctors the full amount of their services. When the Government is paying, they can say take it or leave it. What choice will doctors have? Who will want to go through ten years of college, medical school, internship and residency simply to be a slave of the state? The quality of medical service will naturally diminish.

Finally, as Government takes control of your healthcare, they can more effectively control your behavior. Through taxation and regulation they can impact the foods you can buy, the hobbies you pursue, the terms of a bank loan you can receive, anything involving safety, almost every aspect of your lives, even reproduction---including limitations on it. To keep costs low they will also be forced to examine your age and the statistical likelihood of recovery from an illness and ration care as costs demand.

Finally, once our very lives are dependent on Government, how loudly will anyone oppose Government?
