Week of April 26 2009

The Obama Administration's Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, released a document to law enforcement throughout the country warning them that returning veterans may be likely to join Right Wing extremists groups and become a domestic terrorist threat. Veterans and Veterans' groups are expressing outrage at this document.

I for one understand why the Obama Adminstration is concerned.

Here are a few facts to consider:

Veterans love their country and what it stands for, unlike our president who wants to change everything about it

Veterans are men and women of action, voluntarily putting their lives in harm's way to secure and sustain liberty for others

Veterans have sworn an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic"

Returning veterans will recognize the assault being made on the Constitution each and every day by the Congress, the President and the Courts.

Here's the big one, though:

The Administration is concerned that returning veterans will not recognize the country they are returning to. Obama and his minions know they are rapidly and fundamentally changing the country and the returning veterans will realize the United States no longer stands for the values or the Constitution they were defending.

In reality the Obama Administration fears veterans at the ballot box. They fear a grass roots movement that will take back the country, most likely led by the liberty-loving, Constitution-defending, men and women of action we call veterans.

To head off any impact veterans can make in the political process, they do what Democrats always do. They impugn, ridicule and marginalize. In this case they are using fear. By putting the words veterans, right wing and terrorist in the same sentence, they hope to plant the seed in the public mind that veterans (and Republicans in general) are unstable, radical and dangerous. This is utterly shameless and par for the course for the Democrat political machine.

If you are a veteran and are upset by this blatant attack on your character the most important thing you can do now is get involved. Find a cause or a candidate and get involved. Start a blog, join a local conservative group, sponsor or attend a Tea Party, speak to your local VFW or American Legion, volunteer your time. Put pressure on your congressmen. Find a way to make a difference and help take back your country---not returning to the politics of George Bush, Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter---returning to the politics of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Abraham Lincoln.
